Boston 6, Kansas City 4

BOSTON, April 9 (UPI) -- Manny Ramirez homered, drove in three runs and scored three times and Brian Daubach and Nomar Garciaparra also homered Tuesday night as the Boston Red Sox won their fourth straight, 8-4 over the Kansas City Royals.

Ramirez, who did not have an RBI in the opening week of the season, staked Boston to a 5-0 lead in the third inning with a homer into the netting above the left field wall.

One of baseball's best run producers over the last decade, Ramirez entered the game with just two singles in 12 at bats.

Daubach put Boston ahead 2-0 in the second with a long homer to center field and, after a grand slam by Chuck Knoblauch got Kansas City back in the contest, Garciaparra made it 6-4 with a solo shot in the fifth.

All three homers came off Kansas City starter Dan Reichert (0-2), who was charged with six runs and nine hits in four-plus innings. Reliever Blake Stein was tagged for two runs and four hits in two innings.

Boston starter Tim Wakefield (1

allowed four runs and five hits in five innings. The knuckleballer, who picked up his first win as a starter since Aug. 4, 2001, did not walk a batter and struck out four.
