NY Yankees 11, Pittsburgh 5

TAMPA, Fla., March 26 (UPI) -- Todd Greene homered twice and drove in six runs and Bernie Williams went deep for the first time this spring Tuesday night to power the New York Yankees to an 11-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Greene homered in the second and fourth innings off loser David Williams as the Yankees opened a 9-4 lead.

Marcus Thames had three hits and scored three runs and Ron Coomer and Nick Johnson each added two hits for New York, which finished with 14.

Mike Thurman got the win, despite allowing four runs and four hits in two innings.

Williams was ripped for nine runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Adam Hyzdu smacked a solo homer in the ninth for Pittsburgh.
