Calgary 6, Columbus 1

CALGARY, Alberta, March 26 (UPI) -- Jarome Iginla increased his league-leading point total to 83 with a goal and two assists and Craig Conroy collected four points as the Calgary Flames stymied the Columbus Blue Jackets, 6-1, Monday night to snap an eight-game winless streak.

Conroy scored twice and set up two goals as the Flames recorded their most lopsided victory of the season. Former Blue Jacket Blake Sloan and Jeff Shantz each added two assists.

Iginla stole the puck from defenseman Mattias Timander in his own zone and raced in alone on goaltender Marc Denis. As defenseman Jaroslav Spacek dived in an attempt to knock away the puck, Iginla deposited it between Denis' pads to give the Flames a 4-1 lead in the final minute of the second period.

The goal came 45 seconds after David Vyborny pulled the Blue Jackets within two with his 11th of the season.

With Calgary already ahead 1-0 and on the power play, Conroy controlled the puck behind the net and tried to feed Iginla in the slot. The puck deflected off a Columbus defenseman and past Denis for Conroy's 23rd goal with 5:57 left in the first.

Conroy was at it again just 56 seconds into the second. With the Blue Jackets making a line change, Flames goalie Mike Vernon fired a pass to Sloan, who sent Conroy in on a partial breakaway. Conroy banked a shot off the left goalpost for his second of the game.

Conroy's best chance for a hat trick came with 3:25 left in the second period, when he fired a backhander just wide of the net.

Steve Begin, defenseman Toni Lydman and Dean McAmmond added goals for the Flames, who were 0-6-2-0 in the previous eight contests.
