Detroit 4, Cincinnati 2

LAKELAND, Fla., March 15 (UPI) -- Shane Halter went two for two with a solo homer and Mark Redman allowed one earned run over four innings Friday night as the Detroit Tigers downed the Cincinnati Reds, 4-2.

Halter scored twice and Chris Wakeland doubled and scored for Detroit, which battled back from a 2-0 deficit to improve to 11-6.

Redman yielded two runs and four hits with three strikeouts to lead a strong effort from Tigers' hurlers. Jeff Farnsworth tossed two scoreless innings and Jamie Walker and Juan Acevedo each fired a scoreless frame. Acevedo struck out one in a perfect ninth for the save.

Raul Gonzalez tripled, drove in a run and scored and Juan Castro had two hits for Cincinnati.

Jimmy Haynes surrendered three runs and four hits over four innings with a walk and a strikeout, taking the loss.
