St. Louis 6, Atlanta 2

ORLANDO, Fla., March 11 (UPI) -- Matt Morris pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings and Edgar Renteria and Jim Edmonds hit two-run homers to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 6-2 victory Monday over the Atlanta Braves.

Morris won for the second time this spring, scattering five hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Renteria connected in the second inning and Edmonds went deep in a four-run third inning against Braves starter Albie Lopez. Lopez allowed seven runs in six innings, including four extra-base hits.

Albert Pujols added an RBI triple for the Cardinals.

Braves rookie Tim Spooneybarger pitched two scoreless innings. The righthander struck out three, including J.D. Drew and Tino Martinez.
