Blues sign free-agent Donato

ST. LOUIS, March 6 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Blues claimed left wing Ted Donato off waivers, the team announced Wednesday.

Donato has spent a majority of the season with Los Angeles' American Hockey League affiliate in Manchester, posting 16 goals and 21 assists in 29 games.

The 11-year veteran joins his third team this season having previously spent time with the Los Angeles Kings and New York Islanders. He is scoreless in three NHL appearances this season.

Known more for his defensive skills than offense, Donato has 142 goals and 191 assists in 682 career games.
