PEORIA, Ariz., March 4 (UPI) -- Luis Lopez hit a leadoff homer in the top of the 10th inning Monday to give the Oakland Athletics a 6-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners in a Cactus League game.
Mario Valdez made sure the A's reached extra innings, hitting a two-run homer in the ninth off Justin Kaye. Lopez won it by connecting off Brian Sweeney.

Miguel Tejada had an RBI single in the first inning and Randy Velarde drove in a run with a double in the second for Oakland.
A's starter Mike Fyhrie surrendered three runs and six hits in two innings.
Mark McLemore had three hits and Desi Relaford went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the Mariners. Making his Seattle debut, James Baldwin gave up two runs and two hits in two innings.
