Texas 20, Minnesota 8

FORT MYERS, Fla., March 3 (UPI) -- Frank Catalanotto and Chris Magruder had three hits each Sunday to lead a 25-hit attack as the Texas Rangers pounded the Minnesota Twins, 20-8.

Catalanotto scored twice and was one of six Rangers to drive in two runs. Magruder scored one run and drove in another.

Gabe Kapler, Jason Hart, Ed Sprague, Brad King and Travis Hafner also had two RBI apiece for Texas, which scored 20 runs without a homer. Kapler was one of seven Rangers with at least two hits.

Texas had an eight-run first inning and a seven-run seventh. In the first, the Rangers chased Minnesota ace Brad Radke, who allowed six runs and eight hits -- four earned -- with three walks while retiring just two batters. Jack Cressend was roughed up for seven runs and eight hits in the seventh.

The winner was Hideki Irabu, the first of eight Rangers pitchers. He allowed one run and three hits in two innings.

David Ortiz had two homers and five RBI for the Twins.
