Calgary 5, Nashville 2

CALGARY, Alberta, March 3 (UPI) -- Craig Conroy, Marc Savard and Jarome Iginla scored in the first period Saturday night, leading the Calgary Flames to a key 5-2 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Conroy tipped defenseman Derek Morris' point shot past goaltender Mike Dunham for a power-play goal 9:26 into the game.

Just under four minutes later, Savard picked off Greg Johnson's clearing attempt just inside the blue line, skated in alone and beat Dunham between the pads for his 13th goal.

Iginla capped the first-period scoring with 3:19 left as he skated up the left side on a two on one with Conroy. Iginla pulled up at the left faceoff dot, faked a pass and slapped a shot over Dunham's glove for his league-leading 36th goal.

Dean McAmmond and Chris Clark also scored for Calgary, which climbed within three points of Vancouver and Phoenix for the final Western Conference playoff spot.

Nashville got goals from Steve Dubinsky and Cliff Ronning but remained seven points out of the postseason out West.
