Coincinnati 79, DePaul 62

CHICAGO, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Steve Logan scored 14 of his 22 points in the opening half as No. 4 Cincinnati raced to a huge lead Tuesday night and coasted past DePaul, 79-62, in a Conference USA matchup.

Cincinnati (25-2, 12-1 C-USA) posted its fifth straight victory and remained tied with Marquette atop the American Division. The Bearcats host the ninth-ranked Golden Eagles on Friday night.

Cincinnati took care of matters early, building a 39-18 lead through 20 minutes and turning the second half into an organized scrimmage.

The Bearcats shot 53 percent (17-of-32) in the opening 20 minutes while holding DePaul to 23 percent (7-of-30). In addition to Logan's strong play, Cincinnati got a spark from freshman Jason Maxiell, who made all five of his shots to score 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the first half.

Lance Williams had 12 points for DePaul (9-16, 2-11). The Blue Demons have dropped three straight and seven of eight.
