DALLAS, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- The Dallas Stars brought back a familiar face
on Wednesday, claiming veteran left wing Brent Gilchrist
off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings.
The 34-year-old Gilchrist appeared in 19 games for the Red Wings
this season, collecting one goal and one assist. He is expected
to be available for Wednesday's home game with the New York
Rangers.
In another move, the Stars placed veteran defenseman Dave Manson
on waivers.
A 14-year veteran, Gilchrist has played in 725 games with 132
goals and 163 assists. He first came to the team in a trade with
Edmonton in March 1993 when the franchise still was based in
Minnesota.
Gilchrist, who also played for Montreal, had 56 goals and 61
assists for 117 points in 260 games with the Stars from 1993 to
1997.
Manson, 35, has appeared in 35 games with Dallas and Toronto
this season and has two assists and 27 penalty minutes. In 1,091
career games, Manson has 102 goals and 288 assists for 390
points with 2,786 penalty minutes.
