seasons, was hired for the same post with the Minnesota Vikings

on Tuesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Linehan replaces Sherman Lewis, who was not retained by new

Coach Mike Tice.

Pass-happy Louisville went to bowl games in each of the seasons

Linehan was at the school. Linehan tutored quarterbacks Chris

Redman and Dave Ragone while at Louisville and will now turn his

attention to Daunte Culpepper, who threw 14 touchdowns and 13

interceptions in an injury-plagued 2001 season.

Prior to his tenure at Louisville, Linehan coached at Washington

and Idaho, his alma mater.

Linehan is not the first college coach named to an important

role by Tice. Former Georgia Tech Coach George O'Leary, who

stepped down at Notre Dame following the discovery of

inaccuracies in his biography, was named assistant head

coach/defensive line.
