EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Scott Linehan, the offensive
coordinator at the University of Louisville the past three
seasons, was hired for the same post with the Minnesota Vikings
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Linehan replaces Sherman Lewis, who was not retained by new
Coach Mike Tice.
Pass-happy Louisville went to bowl games in each of the seasons
Linehan was at the school. Linehan tutored quarterbacks Chris
Redman and Dave Ragone while at Louisville and will now turn his
attention to Daunte Culpepper, who threw 14 touchdowns and 13
interceptions in an injury-plagued 2001 season.
Prior to his tenure at Louisville, Linehan coached at Washington
and Idaho, his alma mater.
Linehan is not the first college coach named to an important
role by Tice. Former Georgia Tech Coach George O'Leary, who
stepped down at Notre Dame following the discovery of
inaccuracies in his biography, was named assistant head
