SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Mike Ricci and defenseman Scott Hannan scored 2:31 apart in the third period and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 32 shots to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 4-3 victory Monday night over the Edmonton Oilers.
Edmonton rallied for a 3-2 lead on defenseman Sean Brown's power-play goal 5:15 into the third period. But Ricci tied it 21 seconds later.
Niklas Sundstrom threw the puck toward the net from the top of the right faceoff circle. It got a piece of Oilers defenders Steve Staios and Mike Grier before Ricci shoveled it over goaltender Tommy Salo for his 14th goal.
With 11:53 remaining, Edmonton defenseman Jason Smith had a chance to clear the puck off a goalmouth scramble. But he put it on the stick of Hannan, who put a wrist shot from the top of the slot through a maze of bodies and past Salo for his first goal in 63 games since March 6.
Nabokov made the lead stand up, preserving San Jose's third win in four games.
