Toronto 109, Houston 103

TORONTO, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Jerome Williams scored four of his season-high 18 points in the final 28 seconds and Antonio Davis made a huge block down the stretch Wednesday night as the Toronto Raptors fought off the Houston Rockets, 109-103.

The Raptors seized control of the game with a 19-4 run in the second quarter, highlighted by 10 points from Williams. They maintained the lead and had an 86-68 cushion less than two minutes into the final period before the Rockets scored 31 of the next 45 points.

Moochie Norris scored 15 of his season-high 28 points during the burst. He made a jumper with 1:53 left to bring Houston within 100-99.

Antonio Davis sank two free throws with 90 seconds to go and blocked rookie Eddie Griffin's layup with 22 seconds later. After a pair of free throws by Williams, Griffin sank a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 104-102 with 21 seconds to play.

But Alvin Williams, who scored 21 points, made two free throws, Vince Carter added one of two with 12 seconds left and Williams had a dunk at the buzzer.

Carter finished with 29 points and Davis added 16 for Toronto, which shot 56 percent from the field and won for the fourth time in five games.

Cuttino Mobley scored 22 points and Kenny Thomas collected 20 and eight rebounds for the Rockets, who played without star guard Steve Francis and lost forward Walt Williams.

Francis did not travel with the team to Canada in order to undergo further testing related to migraine headaches. Williams left with a twisted right ankle early the third quarter and did not return.
