Marquette 85, Morris Brown 38

MILWAUKEE, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Scott Merritt scored 20 points as No. 25 Marquette rebounded from consecutive losses Wednesday night by burying Division I newcomer Morris Brown, 85-38.

Marquette (11-2) won its first 10 games before suffering road losses to Wisconsin and Wake Forest.

The Golden Eagles got back on the winning track without leading scorer Dwyane Wade, who is suffering a minor knee injury.

Marquette didn't need Wade, who also leads the team in rebounds, assists and steals, taking a 36-11 lead at halftime before improving to 8-0 at home this season.

Larry Washington had 10 points for Morris Brown (1-13), which suffered its 10th straight loss in its first season in Division I and fell to 0-8 on the road.
