Edmonton 3, Calgary 2

EDMONTON, Alberta, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Defenseman Eric Brewer scored on the power play with 4:57 remaining Wednesday night as the Edmonton Oilers rallied from a two-goal deficit for a 3-2 victory over the flickering Flames.

Calgary's Scott Nichol was penalized for interference 14:53 into the third period and Edmonton needed just 10 seconds to score its second power-play goal of the game. Off a faceoff, defenseman Janne Niinimaa snapped a pass to Brewer, whose one-time slap shot from the top of the right circle beat goaltender Roman Turek.

All five of Brewer's goals this season have come on the power play and two have been game-winners. This one came with teammates Jochen Hecht and Mike Comrie screening Turek.

Josh Green and Comrie also scored for Edmonton, which ended a three-game winless streak and remained one point behind first-place Colorado in the Northwest Division.

Jarome Iginla halted a five-game goal-scoring drought but could not pull the Flames out of their slump. They are winless in their last four games and fell to 3-10-5 since Nov. 17 to fall nine points off the pace in the Northwest.
