Blue 28, Gray 10

MONTGOMERY, Ala., Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Penn State teammates Omar Easy and Eddie Drummond each ran for a touchdown Tuesday as the Blue posted a 28-10 victory over the Gray in the 64th annual Blue-Gray All-Star Classic.

Easy opened the scoring 5:16 into the first quarter, running two yards for a touchdown that gave the Blue the lead for good. Easy was the Blue Offensive Most Valuable Player, rushing 12 times for 49 yards.

After the Gray closed to 14-10, Drummond provided some breathing room with a three-yard touchdown run with five seconds remaining in the third quarter. Drummond carried eight times for 26 yards.

Kansas linebacker Algie Atkinson sealed the win for the Blue, returning a fumbled punt by Mississippi State's Shawn Byrdsong 11 yards for a TD with 4:10 left in the contest.

Northwestern linebacker Kevin Bentley was the Blue's defensive MVP, collecting 16 tackles and an interception that helped set up a touchdown.

Bentley spoke about what he showed NFL scouts in attendance. "I think I showed power, speed and great hands," he said. "I just think I just showed the scouts that I could flat out play and that I'm going to bring it for 60 minutes."

Arizona State running back Delvon Flowers added a one-yard TD run in the opening quarter for the Blue, which turned three Gray turnovers into 21 points.

Virginia running back Tyree Foreman scored on two-yard run and Memphis kicker Ryan White connected on 32-yard field goal for the Gray. Foreman, who was the Gray's offensive MVP, had 13 carries for 56 yards.

Vanderbilt linebacker Nate Morrow registered 15 tackles, earning defensive MVP honors for the Gray.

Neither team got much out of the passing game. Idaho's John Welsh and Nevada's David Neill went a combined 9-of-29 for 111 yards and an interception for the Blue. Alabama State's Darnell Kennedy and Vanderbilt's Greg Zolman were a combined 21-of-50 for 166 yards and an interception for the Gray.

The Blue-Gray All-Star Classic featured seniors not competing in bowl games who were looking to impress NFL scouts in attendance.
