Adam Mair suspended 10 games

NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Kings center Adam Mair received an automatic 10-game suspension from the NHL Friday, one day after he left the bench to participate in a melee against the Ottawa Senators.

The Kings also were fined $10,000 as a result of Mair's actions, which came during the fight-filled second period of Thursday night's 4-2 victory at Ottawa. The teams combined for 252 penalty minutes, including 195 in a marathon second period that ended up with goaltenders Felix Potvin and Jani Hurme picking up game misconducts.
