LEXINGTON, Ky., Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Marquis Estill scored 21 points to lead a balanced attack Saturday as 10th-ranked Kentucky spoiled Winston Bennett's return to Lexington with a 118-63 rout of Division II Kentucky State.
Bennett, a former star at Kentucky who led the Wildcats to a Southeastern Conference tournament title in 1988, was coaching against his alma mater for the first time.
The Wildcats showed Bennett no mercy, building a 55-32 lead in the first half and leading by more than 50 points over the final 20 minutes.
Led by Estill, who made 9-of-11 shots from the field, the Wildcats recorded their biggest offensive output since a 120-81 victory over Vanderbilt on Feb. 7, 1996.
Tayshaun Prince added 18 points and Keith Bogans 17 for Kentucky (6-1), which put all five starters in double figures en route to its sixth straight win.
Jason McGowan netted 15 points to lead the Thoroughbreds (2-4), who are a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
