Iowa 78, Iowa St. 53

AMES, Iowa, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Reggie Evans, Luke Recker and Glen Worley combined for 52 points Saturday night as No. 11 Iowa bounced back from a shocking loss to Northern Iowa with a 78-53 victory over Iowa State.

Evans scored 24 points and Recker and Worley added 14 apiece for the Hawkeyes (7-3), who earned coach Steve Alford his 200th career victory in his 308th game. Alford is 44-31 at Iowa.

After the Cyclones cut Iowa's 12-point lead to 48-41 midway through the second half, Worley and Ryan Hogan hit back-to-back three-pointers to start a 13-2 run and Iowa State (5-4) got no closer than 16 thereafter.

The Cyclones were paced by Tyray Pearson's 20 points. Shane Power added 17 but hit just four of 15 shots for Iowa State, which has dropped two of three at home after having a 39-game winning streak at the Hilton Coliseum snapped by San Jose State last Saturday.

Owning an 18-17 lead, Iowa went on a 9-0 run on baskets by Evans, Recker and Worley. At the break, the Hawkeyes led, 40-28.

Evans had 14 points at halftime. Recker made three of three from long range and had 10 points while Worley contributed seven.

Pearson led the Cyclones with 14 points at the break.
