Knicks place Weatherspoon on IL

NEW YORK, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- New York Knicks forward Clarence Weatherspoon will miss two to four weeks with a partially torn tendon in his right foot.

The Knicks placed Weatherspoon on the injured list Saturday and activated swingman Larry Robinson, who had missed the team's first 13 games with tendinitis.

Weatherspoon suffered a partial tear of his peroneal tendon late in the third quarter of Tuesday's 94-70 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Since signing with the Knicks this summer, Weatherspoon has averaged 10.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, recording five double-doubles.

His injury hurts an already depleted frontcourt, which has been without Marcus Camby all season.

The 6-7, 270-pound Weatherspoon is in his 10th NBA season. Entering 2001-02, he played in 688 of a possible 706 games, never missing more than six in a season.

Robinson averaged 3.3 points in three preseason games after joining his eighth NBA team in seven years. He has played in only 87 NBA games.
