EDMONTON, Alberta, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Jason Allison and Ziggy Palffy scored power-play goals Thursday night as the Los Angeles Kings scored four times in the third period in a 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
Trailing entering the third period, 1-0, the Kings were able to rally against goaltender Tommy Salo, who was vying for his league-leading fifth shutout.
Palffy, a former teammate of Salo's with the New York Islanders, tied the contest with his eighth goal of the season on the power play just 3:36 into the final period.
Palffy took a pass from Allison at the bottom of the faceoff circle and his wrister went past Salo's stick side, ending his shutout streak at 147 minutes, 47 seconds.
Nearly four minutes later, the Kings struck again with the man advantage. Allison converted off a pass from defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky, giving Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.
It took just 39 seconds for Los Angeles to take a 3-1 lead on Craig Johnson's fourth goal. Johnson tipped Mikko Eloranta's slap shot by Salo for his fourth goal of the season.
Brad Chartrand scored his first goal of the season with 8:58 remaining, giving Los Angeles a 4-1 advantage.
Salo made 17 saves over the first two period but allowed four goals on seven shots over the final 20 minutes.
Steve Staios and Georges Laraque scored for Edmonton, which had a seven-game unbeaten streak stopped.
