BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Defenseman Alexei Zhitnik set up three second-period goals Friday night and the Buffalo Sabres remained unbeaten against Calgary since 1996 with a 5-2 victory that ended the Flames' 10-game unbeaten streak.

It was the second three-assist game this month for Zhitnik, who had a hand in goals by J.P. Dumont, Tim Connolly and Miroslav Satan. Stu Barnes and defenseman James Patrick also scored for Buffalo, which is 7

Rookie Steve Begin and Scott Nichol scored 19 seconds apart in the third period for the Flames, whose 6


4 streak was their longest without a loss since the 1988-89 season.

Buffalo shut down NHL leading scorer Jarome Iginla, ending his 15-game points streak. Dean McAmmond also was kept off the scoresheet and had an eight-game run halted.

All three of Calgary's losses this season have come in the finale of games on back-to-back nights and with backup goaltender Mike Vernon in the net.
