Virginia 115, Howard 66

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Chris Williams scored 19 of his 22 points in the first half Wednesday night as 10th-ranked Virginia built a 33-point halftime lead and routed Howard, 115-66, in the John Thompson Classic.

Virginia (3-0), which had won its previous two games by an average of 27 points, shot 59 percent and improved to 71-9 in its last 80 contests against unranked non-conference opponents at University Hall.

Roger Mason Jr. added 21 points and Travis Watson had 11 and seven rebounds for the Cavaliers, who will play Georgetown at the MCI Center in Washington on Dec. 20 when the John Thompson Classic resumes.

Ron Williamson scored 18 points to pace the Bison (1-1) and Kyle Williams added 14 and seven assists. Mario Grove had the game's lone double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
