SUNRISE, Fla., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Defenseman Tomas Kaberle snapped a third-period tie with a power-play goal and the Toronto Maple Leafs ended a four-game road winless streak Wednesday night with a 3-2 triumph over the Florida Panthers.
Kaberle walked in from the point and fired a one-timer past goaltender Roberto Luongo for his first goal of the season and a 3-2 lead with 7:47 remaining.
Corey Schwab, making just his second start of the season, turned away 26 shots as Toronto improved to 1-2
2 in its five road contests.
Pavel Bure and Marcus Nilson scored power-play goals for Florida, which wrapped up a 1-3
1 homestand.
Bure extended his points streak to seven games and had a good chance to tie the score with 5:13 to play in the third period. But Schwab got his glove up to bat away a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle. The rebound went to the bottom of the left circle and Bret Hedican was unable to put a shot on net.
