NAPLES, Fla., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Brad Faxon and Scott McCarron scrambled their way to a second straight victory Sunday at the Franklin Templeton Shootout, beating John Daly and Frank Lickliter by two shots.
Faxon and McCarron teamed in the scramble format to shoot a 15-under-par 57 to finish the three-day, three-format tournament at 33-under 183. They began Sunday a stroke behind leaders Daly and Lickliter.
The two shared the $450,000 top prize.
The final holes of the tournament were played with a hint of tension in the air because Lickliter questioned Faxon on the 16th hole about a possible rules violation. There was no violation, but it seemed to spur on the Faxon-McCarron team -- which eagled the par-5 17th to break a tie and birdied the 18th to wrap up the victory.
