Ottawa 3, Nashville 2

OTTAWA, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- The Ottawa Senators set a team record with their sixth consecutive win Saturday night as defenseman Wade Redden scored with four minutes remaining for a 3-2 triumph over the Nashville Predators.

After Daniel Alfredsson's shot was stopped by diving goaltender Tomas Vokoun, Redden backhanded the rebound into a vacated net for his fifth goal of the season and first game-winner. Redden had 10 goals in 78 games last season.

The Senators dominated the third period, limiting the Predators to two shots. Shortly before Redden's goal, teammate Todd White and Nashville rookie Martin Erat were penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Ottawa took a 2-0 lead early in the first period. Chris Herperger's second goal of the season started the scoring at 5:18 and White doubled the lead five minutes later with his seventh goal.

White scored just four times in 16 games all of last season.

The Predators halved the deficit 1:56 before the first intermission on defenseman Bubba Berenzweig's first NHL goal. Berenzweig was at the bottom of the left faceoff circle, took a pass from Cliff Ronning and fired the puck over goalie Patrick Lalime's right shoulder.
