Los Angeles 4, Tampa Bay 1

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Steve Heinze picked up a goal and an assist Saturday as the Los Angeles Kings ended a five-game losing streak with a 4-1 triumph over the punchless Atlanta Thrashers.

Heinze scored during a five-on-three advantage with 25 seconds left in the first period to give Los Angeles a 2-0 lead. He was at the right side of the crease, got a rebound of defenseman Mathieu Schneider's shot from the left faceoff circle and notched his sixth goal.

Los Angeles opened the scoring midway through the period when Randy Robitaille collected a rebound of Heinze's shot and scored on a backhander just to the left of the crease.

Eric Belanger sealed the win with a pair of third-period goals and Felix Potvin made 15 saves to snap a personal four-game losing streak.

Potvin hardly broke a sweat early as the Kings held the Thrashers without a shot for the first 21 minutes, 45 seconds.

Atlanta cut the deficit to 2-1 at 5:47 of the second period. Rookie Dany Heatley set up Hnat Domenichelli along the goal line with a pass from behind the net. Domenichelli skated to the bottom of the right circle and lifted a wrist shot over Potvin's glove.

Los Angeles regained a two-goal lead 1:55 into the third period. Belanger kicked a backhanded pass from Ian Laperriere to his stick and lifted a shot over Milan Hnilicka's shoulder.

Belanger also scored into an empty net in the final minute.

The Thrashers finally recorded a shot when defenseman Jiri Slegr tested Potvin from outside the blue line just over a minute into the second period. It was only the second time in team history that the Kings held an opponent without a shot in a period.

Hnilicka made 33 saves, but fell to 3-5-0.
