Boise St. 49, Nevada 7

BOISE, Idaho, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Ryan Dinwiddie threw for three scores and ran for another Saturday night as Boise State followed up its upset of Fresno State with a 49-7 thrashing of Western Athletic Conference foe Nevada.

Last week, the Broncos (5-3, 4-1 WAC) went into Fresno and knocked off the undefeated Bulldogs on national television. This week, Boise State took care of matters early, rolling to a 21-0 lead after one quarter.

Dinwiddie opened the scoring with an eight-yard run and, after a Nevada fumble, David Mikell added a one-yard touchdown plunge.

Dinwiddie then found Jay Swillie for a nine-yard touchdown pass and hooked up with Jeb Putzier on a 57-yard touchdown toss for a 28-0 lead. Putzier also hauled in an eight-yard scoring pass just before halftime that made it 35-7.

The Broncos kept the ball on the ground for most of the second half. Brock Forsey scored on a 28-yard run and Mikell scored his second touchdown on 64-yard scamper in the third quarter for the final margin.

Mikell rushed for 128 yards and Forsey added 105 yards on the ground as Boise State rolled up 319 yards rushing. The Broncos outgained the Wolf Pack, 488-382.

Zack Threadgill completed 30 of 53 passes for 297 yards and a touchdown for Nevada (1-6, 1-3), which lost its third straight and gained just 85 yards on the ground.

The victory propelled Boise State into a first-place tie with Louisiana Tech atop the WAC. The Broncos visit the Bulldogs next week.
