LA Lakers 109, Milwaukee 107

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant made two free throws with one second left, capping a fourth-quarter rally and giving the Los Angeles Lakers a 109-107 exhibition victory over the Milwaukee Bucks Thursday night.

Before the game, the Bucks signed free agent forward Anthony Mason, an All-Star last season with the Miami Heat.

The Bucks led 38-24 after one period and opened a 103-86 bulge with 7:33 remaining before the Lakers closed the game with a 23-4 run. Shaquille O'Neal scored 11 points during the surge, including a three-point play with 1:48 to go that tied it.

O'Neal scored 31 points despite making just 9-of-25 free throws. He is 17-of-49 from the line in the preseason.

Bryant added 18 points and Lindsey Hunter 13 for the Lakers (3-4), who shot 47 percent (39-of-83) from the field and made 22-of-40 free throws.

Ray Allen and Sam Cassell scored 29 points apiece for the Bucks (3-4), who shot 40 percent (36-of-89), including 12-of-33 from 3-point range. Milwaukee made 23-of-24 foul shots.

Tim Thomas scored 20 points as Milwaukee again played without All-Star forward Glenn Robinson, who has sat out the entire preseason with sore feet.

On Monday, the Bucks swung a three-team deal that cleared the salary cap room to sign Mason, who averaged 16.9 points and 9.6 rebounds per game last season. He gives Milwaukee a low-post presence that it lacked last season, when it fell one win short of the NBA Finals.
