COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Adam Deadmarsh collected a career-high five points Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Kings posted a 7-1 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Deadmarsh scored his first goal of the night midway through the first period, finishing off a set of tape-to-tape passes by tapping the puck in from the left side of the net for a 3-0 lead.

He scored again less than four minutes into the second period when he took a pass from Ziggy Palffy and fired a one-timer over Ottawa's Ron Tugnutt's glove for a commanding 6-0 lead.

Palffy had two goals and an assist, Jozef Stumpel recorded three assists and Felix Potvin finished with 30 saves.

The Kings dominated with their power play, scoring four times in four opportunities.

Palffy opened the scoring 52 seconds into the game when he caught Tugnutt out of position at the top of the crease and tapped home a rebound. The Kings scored three minutes later when defenseman Glen Murray scored on a one-timer, a tally set up by Bryan Smolinski on a 2-on-1 break.

Eric Belanger and Palffy struck 82 seconds apart late in the first to cap a five-goal period.

The Kings' offensive assault did not stop there. Los Angeles took advantage of a 5-3 situation and scored twice in the opening five minutes of the second period to open a 7-0 lead.

Columbus finally got on the board with 3:46 remaining in the second. Martin Spanhel found a bouncing puck at the top of the crease and fired it past Potvin.
