Charlotte 91, Indiana 78

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C., Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Jamal Mashburn scored 17 points and Baron Davis added 15 and eight assists Monday night to lead the Charlotte Hornets to a 91-78 exhibition victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Mashburn scored 15 points in the first half, including a 3-pointer that gave the Hornets their first lead, 46-44, with 6.3 seconds remaining in the second quarter.

Charlotte (4-3) took command with a 13-2 run in the third. Davis scored five points during the run and blocked a shot by 6-11 Jermaine O'Neal. David Wesley, who scored 10 points, capped the burst with a jumper for a 66-57 lead with 1:55 remaining.

O'Neal had 14 points and 10 rebounds and rookie Primoz Brezec added 12 points for Indiana (3-4), which shot just 37 percent (25-of-67).

Indiana rookies Jamison Brewer and Norm Richardson did not play and guard Jalen Rose sat out with a respiratory infection.
