Dallas 94, Denver 88

DENVER, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Michael Finley scored 23 points and Steve Nash added 17 and six assists Saturday night to boost the Dallas Mavericks past the Denver Nuggets, 94-88.

Finley made eight of 18 shots from the floor, including both his three-pointers, and dished out six assists. Nash made five of eight shots and six of seven free throws, helping Dallas take control in the third quarter.

Finley made a three-pointer 40 seconds into the second half to give the Mavericks the lead for good, 54-53. Nash scored six points in the quarter, during which Dallas outscored Denver, 22-14.

Dirk Nowitzki scored seven points in the period and finished with 16, seven rebounds and three blocks. Shawn Bradley had 12 points and six rebounds and Juwan Howard added eight and seven.

Kevin Willis had 16 points and 18 rebounds for Denver and Nick Van Exel added 14 points and 10 assists. George McCloud scored 18 points and Raef LaFrentz had 11 points and four blocks.

Nuggets rookie guard Kenny Satterfield had one rebound and two assists in eight minutes but did not score.
