Auburn 48, Louisiana Tech 41 (OT)

AUBURN, Ala., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Daniel Cobb's fifth touchdown pass of the game, a five-yarder to Deandre Green on the first possession of overtime, allowed the 21st-ranked Auburn Tigers survive Saturday with a 48-41 victory over Louisiana Tech.

Auburn (6-1) had won its previous three games by a combined eight points, including last week's dramatic 23-20 victory over Florida. In each game, kicker Damon Duval booted the winning field goal in the fourth quarter.

Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville may have expected a letdown following last week's emotional win, but the Tigers scored 10 points in the final 1 1/2 minutes of the second quarter to open a 31-13 lead at the intermission.

While Auburn allowed Louisiana Tech to stay close, the Tigers appeared to be in good shape, holding a 41-27 lead late in the fourth quarter.

But the Bulldogs (3-3) staged a furious rally as Luke McCown threw touchdown passes of 12 yards to D.J. Curry and 23 yards to Delwyn Daigre in the final 2 1/2 minutes of regulation to force overtime. After Green's touchdown catch in the first extra period, Auburn clinched the win with an interception of McCown.
