HOUSTON, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Dante Brown rushed for 149 yards and a school-record four touchdowns on 26 carries Saturday night as Memphis pounded winless Houston, 52-33, in a Conference USA contest.
In one game, Brown doubled his total for the season. He ran for four touchdowns in Memphis' first five contests.
Brown scored on runs of five, 15 and two yards in the first half, helping the Tigers (4-2, 2-1 C-USA) open a 24-14 halftime lead. He added a 31-yard touchdown run in the final period.
Danny Wimprine took over in the third quarter, throwing two touchdown passes and scoring on a one-yard run to give Memphis a 45-27 lead heading into the final period.
Wimprine completed 14 of 21 passes for 216 yards with no interceptions. The Tigers have won four of five since a season-opening loss at Mississippi State.
Nick Eddy completed 28 of 42 passes for 331 yards and two interceptions for the Cougars (0-5, 0-3). Joffery Reynolds rushed for 108 yards on 14 carries.
Orlando Iglesias grabbed eight passes for 101 yards for Houston.
