Utah 92, Portland 76

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Rookie Andrei Kirilenko had 14 points and six rebounds and John Starks scored six points during a decisive run in the fourth quarter Wednesday night as the Utah Jazz posted a 92-76 exhibition victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Kirilenko made five of six shots from the floor and scored 12 of his 14 points in the third quarter as Utah took a 64-50 lead with 1:48 to go. But the Blazers closed the period with eight straight points and scored the first basket of the fourth quarter to pull within 64-60 with 11:30 to play.

Portland climbed within 68-65 with 9:04 remaining before the Jazz reeled off 13 straight points led by Starks, who made three baskets during the run and finished with 10 points off the bench.

The Jazz took their biggest lead, 92-74, with 2:04 left after a pair of free throws by second-round draft pick Jarron Collins, who had two points and four rebounds in 14 minutes.

Bryon Russell scored 13 points and Donyell Marshall added 12 for the Jazz, who made 29 of 38 free throws on their home court. John Stockton chipped in six points, five rebounds and eight assists in just 18 minutes.

Shawn Kemp scored 12 points before fouling out and Derek Anderson had 11 for Portland, which shot 37 percent and totaled just eight points in the second quarter.

First-round draft pick Zach Randolph collected six points and six rebounds, despite making just two of 10 shots. Rookie Ruben Boumtje Boumtje had two points and two rebounds in 12 minutes.
