Nashville 1, Calgary 0

NASHVILLE, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Mike Dunham made 26 saves for his ninth career shutout Thursday night, backstopping the Nashville Predators to their first win of the season, a 1-0 triumph over the Calgary Flames.

Dunham is the only goaltender named to the United States Olympic team thus far.

The Predators opened the season with a 4-1 loss at Dallas and a 2-2 tie against St. Louis. But Vladimir Orszagh scored the only goal Dunham needed midway through the first period.

On a power play, Martin Erat skated with the puck to the right faceoff circle and fired a shot. Standing in front of the net, Orszagh deflected it between goaltender Mike Vernon's pads.

Vernon stopped 18 shots in his first start of the season, but the Flames suffered their first regulation loss. Calgary's only other defeat was a 2-1 overtime setback against Phoenix on Monday.
