Indiana 99, Atlanta 94

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Travis Best scored nine of his 20 points in the fourth quarter and Al Harrington scored eight points in the final nine minutes Thursday night as the Indiana Pacers rallied for a 99-94 exhibition victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Best did most of his damage from the free throw line, sinking 11 of 12 shots with seven of them coming in the final period. Harrington made six of 10 shots from the field and finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Pacers (1-1) trailed, 74-66, with 1:52 left in the third quarter. But they scored 12 of the next 15 points and took a 78-77 lead on a dunk by Harrington with 8:11 remaining. Atlanta's DerMarr Johnson scored before Harrington gave Indiana the lead for good on a short jumper with 7:42 to go.

The Pacers led by as many as seven in the final minutes.

Austin Croshere had 20 points and 10 rebounds for Indiana, which held a 50-35 rebounding edge. Jermaine O'Neal added 13 points and 12 boards and Reggie Miller had 17 and seven in 23 minutes.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 16 points and eight rebounds for Atlanta (1-1), which shot just 36 percent, including six of 22 from three-point range.

Jason Terry had 12 points and five assists and Johnson finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Hawks center Theo Ratliff did not play due to a sore right hip and groin.
