Los Angeles 5, San Diego 2

, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Paul Lo Duca homered twice and threw out all-time stolen bases leader Rickey Henderson as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres, 5-2 Tuesday night.

Despite the win, the Dodgers were eliminated from the playoffs as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Colorado Rockies, 10-1.

Lo Duca, one of the biggest surprises for the disappointing Dodgers, hit Brian Lawrence's 1-0 pitch over the left-field fence to tie the score, 1-1. With the score tied, 2-2, Lo Duca led off the ninth and sent Trevor Hoffman's 2-2 pitch over the left-field fence for his 23rd home run. It was the second career multi-homer game for Lo Duca, who nailed Henderson at second with one out in the eighth inning.

Henderson was hitless in the contest and remains one run away from Ty Cobb's all-time record. Henderson also is three hits away from becoming the 25th member of the 3,000-hit club.

Giovanni Carrara (5-1) walked one and struck out three in two scoreless innings for the win and Jeff Shaw struck out one in a perfect ninth for his 41st save in 50 opportunities.
