July 3 (UPI) -- Serena Williams' fiancé, Alexis Ohanian, thinks the athlete will be an "awesome mom."

The 34-year-old Reddit co-founder said in an interview with the CNBC series Squawk in the Box that he will support Williams by taking parental leave after the pregnant 35-year-old tennis star gives birth.

"My fiancée is doing an awesome job," Ohanian gushed of Williams. "She's very good at a lot of things and well on her way to being an awesome mom, too."

"At Reddit, it's really important for us to support men and women when they are welcoming a new member to the family," he added. "I'll be taking off for six weeks myself and trying to do the best job possible as a new dad, a first-time dad."

Williams announced her pregnancy in April after getting engaged to Ohanian in December. She recently went nude for the August issue of Vanity Fair, and confessed in the interview that her pregnancy "just doesn't seem real."

"If you would have told me last year in October or November that I would have a baby, not be pregnant but have a baby, I would have thought you were the biggest liar in the world," the star said. "This is kind of how I am right now. This is happening sooner than later, and it's going by so fast."

"I don't know what to do with a baby," she later admitted. "I have nothing... I've done absolutely nothing for the baby room."

Williams showed off her baby bump while attending the 2017 Met Gala with Ohanian in May. She told Vogue at the time that she and the Reddit co-founder are keeping their unborn child's sex a "surprise."
