Air Force contracts for defense support

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has contracted Science Applications International Corp. to provide integrated defense support services at Defense Department installations.

U.S. company SAIC was selected for a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract that will be managed by the Air Force 642nd Electronic Systems Squadron located at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts.

Under the Force Protection Security Systems contract, SAIC will provide Air Force and Defense Department installations with integrated base defense services including area intrusion detection and access control among other requirements.

"This award demonstrates our commitment to developing and delivering critical systems and solutions for the protection of Department of Defense assets," John Thomas, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said in a statement.
