LOS ANGELES, July 28 (UPI) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted Universal Detection Technology a patent for its automated airborne anthrax threat detection system.
Early warning threat monitoring systems developer Universal Detection Technology, which has headquarters in California, says its anthrax detection apparatus filed under the title "Apparatus and Method for Automated Monitoring of Bacterial Spores" has been granted a patent.
The patent, the company's second, provides the company with intellectual property rights for the automated airborne bacterial spores detection technology.
"Universal Detection Technology's second patent on its licensed technology is another step forward in providing critical counter-bioterrorism equipment to organizations in the public, commercial and private sectors," Jacques Tizabi, Universal Detection Technology chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"This distinction will allow us to continue to bolster our intellectual property rights in the United States and abroad."
