SACRAMENTO, July 15 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Aerojet to deliver its Hawk surface-to-air guided rocket motor technologies for sale to U.S. allied countries.
U.S. company Aerojet, a developer of solutions for the missile and space propulsion, defense and armaments markets, was awarded the contract from the Army Aviation and Missile Command.
Under the approximately $40 million deal, Aerojet will deliver its Hawk rocket motors to AMCOM for eventual sale to U.S. allies, of which there are more than 20 countries that deploy the surface-to-air guided, medium-range missile motors.
"During the last 50 years, Aerojet has manufactured approximately 44,000 Hawk rocket motors for the U.S. Army and its allies," Kevin Smith, Aerojet director of programs for missile defense, said in a statement.
"Aerojet is pleased to build on this legacy under this new Hawk rocket motor production contract."
