Elbit to support Israeli Effroni trainers

HAIFA, Israel, July 8 (UPI) -- The Israeli Ministry of Defense has contracted Elbit Systems Ltd. to provide operation and maintenance services for the air force's trainer aircraft.

Israel-based Elbit was awarded the contact to support the Israeli air force's new Beechcraft T-6 trainer aircraft, known as Effroni. Under the five-year deal, Elbit will provide the Effroni trainer with operational support along with ongoing maintenance services.

The Effroni trainer, which replaces the Israeli air force's Fouga Magister, is part of an effort to advance the training of new pilots with next-generation technologies.

"We are extremely proud of this selection, which is yet another link in the chain of Israeli air force projects we have been managing and that consistently rank high in the Israeli air force 's quality and performance tests," Yoram Shmuely, Elbit Systems Aerospace Division co-general manager, said in a statement.
