DHS awards infrastructure awareness deal

ABERDEEN, Md., June 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Homeland Security Department has awarded Battelle a task order to support operational awareness at U.S. critical infrastructures and key resources.

U.S. company Battelle and its subcontractor Capstone were awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract from the Homeland Security Department.

Under the five-year, $29 million deal, Battelle will support the Homeland Security Department's National Infrastructure Coordination Center Watch locations and the Office of Infrastructure Protection Incident Management Cell with operational awareness services.

"We're delighted to have been selected by DHS to provide support to this important program," Mike Janus, Battelle Systems Integration Services vice president, said in a statement.

"Protecting our critical infrastructure from all hazards is one of the most challenging problems our nation faces today. We're proud to contribute Battelle's expertise toward keeping America safe."
