FAIRFAX, Va., May 29 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has contracted Argon ST Inc. to support the Integrated Topside program with testing and evaluation services.
U.S. company Argon was awarded the contract from the Navy's Office of Naval Research. Under the deal, Argon will support the Integrated Topside, or InTop, program with its new initiative to "integrate topside radio frequency capabilities into multi-functional solutions," a news release said.
Officials say Argon was selected to provide design and fabrication support along with testing and evaluation services among other requirements for the next-generation Navy program.
"With any given ship suite of sensor, weapon and control systems, ship topside architecture and design has more influence over realized ship warfare mission capability than any other ship system or engineering design discipline," Kerry Rowe, Argon president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.
"We are honored to have been selected to participate in a program that will define the next generation of U.S. Navy surface ships."
