PORT TOWNSEND, Wash., May 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Intellicheck Mobilisa to provide its identification reading technologies to support security at Fort Sam Houston in Texas.
U.S. company Intellicheck Mobilisa was contracted to provide its widely deployed Defense ID access control system for integration at Fort Sam Houston military medical facility.
Intellicheck Mobilisa says its Defense ID reading technology is designed to scan military IDs and driver's licenses among other identifications to ensure security at installations.
"Fort Sam Houston is regarded as the largest and a very important military medical facility and we are excited to add them to our list of new customers," Nelson Ludlow, Intellicheck Mobilisa, chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"Though a voluntary background check system existed, Fort Sam Houston chose Defense ID access control system to provide a broader security check."
