NG licenses SD tool for B-2 modernization

AUSTIN, Texas, May 12 (UPI) -- Northrop Grumman Corp. said it has acquired a license to use software translation technologies from Semantic Designs Inc. to support a U.S. Air Force program.

U.S. company SD said Northrop Grumman has licensed its Jovial2C direct-translation technology to support its contract with the Air Force's B-2 Spirit Bomber Operational Flight Program Refresh Project.

As part of the Enterprise Software Modernization License, Northrop Grumman will use SD's Jovial2C system to modernize software applications for B-2 Spirit Bomber.

"Semantic Designs' automated Jovial2C direct translator allows Northrop Grumman to modernize the (Operational Flight Program) and other software avionics components included in this B-2 refresh project ... that will support the operational and mission needs of the aircraft throughout its lifetime," Ira Baxter, SD chief executive, said in a statement.
