Kopin launches new Viper display tech

TAUNTON, Mass., April 14 (UPI) -- Massachusetts-based Kopin Corp. announced the launch of a new family of imaging devices that support remote video view for the security and defense markets.

Kopin is showcasing its new Viper head-mounted display system at the Defense, Security and Sensing 2009 symposium taking place through Friday in Florida.

The Viper head-mounted micro-display system, part of a new family of products being showcased by Kopin, is designed to support remote viewing of video by security authorities. Officials said the new lightweight display technology can be used with thermal and surveillance cameras.

"The products we are unveiling today highlight the latest major engineering breakthroughs in our display solutions that further improve power efficiency and enhance performance," Michael Presz, Kopin vice president of government programs, said in a statement.
